Leak Detection

In Australia, water waste is a common – not to mention expensive – problem.

However, while many people are well-versed in avoiding overuse through measures such as short showering and smart garden maintenance, the issue of leaking pipes often goes unmentioned.

Leaking pipes are one of the biggest contributors to water waste, and if that doesn’t appeal to your conscious then it’ll probably appeal to your wallet.

Here are 3 signs that you might have an unknown leak on your property.

1. Increasing bills

It may sound stupidly simple, but if you’re seeing bill increases and can’t figure out what the hell is going on, there’s a good chance you’ve got yourself a leaking pipe. Many utility bills will give you a clear comparison of how much you’re using compared to the same period the previous year. If you’re seeing an unexplained increase, it’s time to call in an expert.

2. Weird meter readings

If you have access to your water meter, there’s a quick-fire test to see if your water systems are behaving themselves. Check the reading on your meter and then cease using any water in the house for at least 30 minutes. If you see any change in your meter after this half an hour then there’s a pretty strong chance your property is leaking.

3. Mold or mildew appearing on your walls

If you’re seeing mold or mildew on the walls of your property, you’ve got excess moisture either on the surface of your walls, or trapped in the walls themselves.

While there can be a number of other causes, if you’ve got moisture in the walls of your property, a leak might well be to blame.

In short, leaking pipes are a big issue. If you know you’ve got a problem, or have experienced any of the problems above, call Drain Rescue immediately.

We’ll be able to talk you through any problems you may have before advising you on the best course of action.
